Today feels like a win.
I got the all-clear after bowel cancer screening – five years on from my breast cancer diagnosis.
For anyone who’s never had a diagnosis, screenings can feel routine.
There’s often an assumption that the results will come back fine – because you feel fine, because you eat well, you exercise, because you do all the “right” things.
But for those of us who’ve heard the words you have cancer, screenings carry a different weight.
There’s a quiet fear tucked behind the waiting – the “what if?”
▫You don’t read the letter the same way.
▫You hover before you open it.
▫You hold your breath in a way you didn’t used to.
Will it tap me on the shoulder again?
